Internet lesson participants introduced to the volunteer lifestyle
On February 16, ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) held the third videoconference in its Internet learning series “I Have the Right to Know!” The topic of this video conference was “Healthy Lifestyles for Teens: On the Street and on the Internet.”
The main aim of this Internet lesson was to develop in participants a completely negative attitude towards narcotics and disseminate innovative methods of preventing substance abuse.
High school students from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Tomsk heard from experts about prevention activities with difficult teens and the work of public organizations and youth movements in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Elena Dmitrieva, director of the Health and Development Foundation, spoke to the students about the volunteer movement aimed at popularizing healthy lifestyles among young people, and why this type of activity might be interesting for teens.
She also presented a video showing events organized by Health and Development Foundation volunteers in various Russian regions, and answered questions from the audience.
Participants were also shown information from the FSKN website, material for parents, helpful videos, short anti-drug films, and computer games, and heard real-life stories of those who had suffered from drug abuse, as well as commentary from specialists. Different sections were prepared for teens aged 12-14, 14-16, and 16 and older.
A recording of the videoconference is available on the FSKN site in the “Direct Dialogue with the Regions” section.
